‘Left’ politics without class struggle? By Pete Radcliff (Solidarity 3/92, 27 April 2006)
“Euston may be a station to catch fast trains to the North West of the UK but it seems also be a congregation point for former socialists travelling fast to oblivion.”

Britain’s ‘Euston Manifesto’: Ex-liberals for imperialism and war. By Chris Marsden and Julie Hyland (World Socialist Web Site, 24 May 2006)
“In truth, the Euston group has nothing but contempt for what they choose to describe as the ‘socialist Left’. The manifesto is largely made up of denunciations of unspecified left groups and individuals for supposedly betraying the democratic ideals that the authors alone continue to uphold.”

Off the rails. By Lawrence Parker (Weekly Worker, Issue 627, June 1 2006)
“The launch of the Euston Manifesto showed that this ‘initiative – which has attracted a large amount of media attention – is totally bereft of vision, repeats all the standard CIA tropes about terrorism and, more than that, fears open debate.” See also interview with Alan Johnson: Third camp to first

Covering up for colonialism. By Alex Callinicos (Socialist Worker, issue 2003, 3 June 2006)
“The intellectual dishonesty of the Euston Manifesto – its evasions over the war – is evidence of its authors’ political weakness.”

Left on The Euston Platform. By David Beetham and Pat Devine (ZNet, June 08, 2006)
“The Manifesto Group’s attempt to draw a line between those who support the values of the Enlightenment, of modernity, of the Age of Revolutions, against those who do not, or are prepared to compromise them, is wholly spurious.”

Accommodating to the status quo: A critique of the Euston Manifesto. By Paul Flewers (New Interventions, Vol.12, No.3, 2007)
“What unites them here, and what makes this document so much a manifesto for the ‘decent left’, however, is a strong dislike of the far left. It is this deep antipathy that runs clearly through the manifesto like, as it were, a red thread, even though, as we shall see, some of the ideas which the Eustonites put in our mouths are barely recognisable to this writer.”

In the name of decency: the contortions of the pro-war left. By Richard Seymour (International Socialism, Issue 113, Winter 2007, p.9-32)
“Backing for the USs occupation of Iraq has come from a bunch of intellectuals who still have the cheek to claim to be on the left.”
