“No Logo”: De multinationale og sweatshop-industrien

Forord

No Logo er titlen på en vigtig bog skrevet af den canadiske journalist Naomi Klein. Her beskriver hun, hvordan mange af de multinationale siden midten af 1980’erne har koncentreret deres resurcer om markedsføring af det enkeltes firmas mærkevarer (brand), dvs. produktion af logoer fremfor produktion af ting, med en enorm stigning i reklame- og markedsføringsomkostningerne til følge. Denne forøgede udgift hentes så ind ved, at selve produktionen ofte udbydes til fabrikker i de økonomiske frizoner i Asien og Latinamerika, hvor der arbejdes under sweatshop-lignende forhold: ekstrem udbytning, elendige løn- og arbejdsforhold, forbud mod fagforeninger og militærlignende organisering. Samtidig reorganiseres virksomhederne i kerneområderne med nedskæringer og øget brug af deltids-, korttids- og kontraktansatte til ringere lønninger.

Alt dette er det grimme ansigt bag firmaernes mærkevarer.
