Dagen for spansk litteratur og verdenslitteraturen.
Den berømteste spanske roman, Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra’s Don Quixote [Don Quijote], blev udgivet.
Den 20. december 20, 1604, færdiggjorde trykkeriet Juan de la Cuesta i Madrid det første eksemplar af “den første europæiske roman”.
Fire uger senere blev første udgave sat til salg i et oplag på 1.200 ekspl. i Francisco de Robles boghandel i Madrid.
