Slaveopstanden starter (varer til 1764) i Berbice, senere Britisk Guyana, nuværende Guyana. Dagen er nationaldag og opstanden ses som starten på antikolonial kamp, under ledelse af nationalhelten Kofi Badu aka Cuffy. Guyana blev selvstændigt i 1962.
