Afgørende militære nederlag for ophrørshæren i den såkaldte Shays’ Rebellion mod den nydannede forbundshær i USA.

8. juni 1787

Herremændenes ret til (privat) at straffe deres bønder ophæves ved forordning, og træhesten bliver ved kongelig forordning afskaffet som straffemiddel ligesom halsjern, fangehul og den spanske kappe.
Men godsejernes ret til at straffe landarbejderne med prygl og andre korporlige revselser forsatte, og gårdmændene fik den samme ret til at straffe landarbejderne.
