M. N. Roy fødes i en landsby ved Kolkata (tidl. Calcutta). Dør 25. januar i delstaten Uttarakhand i Nordindien.
Manabendra Nath Roy (oprindelig Narendra Nath Bhattacharya) var indisk nationalist og socialist og medstifter af det indiske (og mexicanske) kommunistparti. Bl.a. kendt fra debatten med Lenin på Kominterns 2. kongres i 1920 om det nationale og koloniale spørgsmål.
