1940_emma_goldman_TCforside-220.jpgDen fremtrædende anarkist Emma Goldman døde 14. maj 1940 i Toronto, Canada. Hun blev født 27. juni 1869 i Kaunas, Lithauen (dengang Kovno i Rusland).
Efter immigration til USA i 1889 blev hun aktiv i den anarkistiske arbejderbevægelse, redaktør af tidsskriftet Mother Earth (1906-1917), blev dømt bl.a. for aktiviteter for fødselskontrol og imod 1. Verdenskrig. Deporteret af myndighederne til det revolutionære Rusland, som hun skuffet forlod i 1921, og var derefter statsløs og politisk aktiv i forskellige lande i Vesteuropa, og i Spanien under revolution og borgerkrig.

The outstanding anarchist Emma Goldman died in Toronto, Canada on May 14, 1940. She as born June 27., 1869 in Kaunus, Lithuania(Kovno under Russian rule).
After emigration to the US in 1889 she became active in the anarchist labor movement, editor af the magasine “Mother Earth” (1906-1917), was condemmed for her activities for birth control and anti war, World War I. She was depoted by the authorities to revolutionary Russia, which she left in disappointment in 1921, and was thereafter stateless and political active in several countries in Western Europe, incl. in Spain during revolution and civil war.
